I am a holistic doctor and founder of Cherry Holistic – Sister, Be Your Own Doctor! with 20+ years of experience in holistic medicine.

I grew up in the Bavarian countryside, in close connection with nature. Both my parents were into ecology. As a child, I learned healthy nutrition and herbalism from my mother, a pharmacist. At an early age, I decided to become a vegetarian.

In an amazing family story, at the transition from 19th to 20th century, my great-great-grandfather was a healer from Lithuania. I must have sensed these lost European healing traditions in me, because at the age of fourteen, I connected with witchcraft, the Celtic tradition and the five sacred elements of life. My childhood room was full of magical objects and dried herbs.

As a young medical student, I traveled to India and studied Ayurveda (and again five elements) in Gurukula tradition, where the student lives with the teacher, learning from words and deeds, which stands in strong contrast to an accademic scientific education. Drifting and torn between ancient traditions from India and modern medical education in Germany, I finally achieved my degree in Medicine from Philips-University of Marburg.

During my professional career as a doctor, I initially practiced Ayurveda and holistic medicine in my own clinic. Later I worked in general medicine, rehabilitation, psychosomatics and psychiatry. I learned about the importance of women‘s health and the plight of women through many trips to developing countries, and as a doctor in primary health care in refugee camps in Germany. But I never found my place within the modern healthcare system or society.

In 2017, I rediscovered permaculture for myself. In 2019, I obtained a Permaculture Design Course certificate from David Holmgren, the co-founder of permaculture in Australia. In the following years, I informed myself extensively about climate change and the resulting humanitarian and health crisis we are facing worldwide, about regenerative agriculture, food systems, nutrition and microbiome. In 2024, I obtained an Ecovillage Design Education certificate from Gaia Education. This was the beginning of my present journey through ecovillages around the world in search of a new home for myself.

As a young woman, I went through sexually traumatic experiences. Connecting with the women’s liberation movement helped me. More importantly, my own rocky path helped me grow spiritually and all of my different medical knowledge helped me to be my own doctor. Finally, I empowered myself to reclaim my mental health. With the foundation of Cherry Holistic Sister, Be Your Own Doctor”, I have the vision to pass on and share my knowledge and my own healing experience with younger women, while adressing burning issues of climate change and global crisis.
